# Bottle Labels

> Custom bottle labels for curved glass and plastic: condensation-resistant film, wrap sizing from 30 to 120 mm, and adhesives that hold when chilled.

Category: labels · Minimum order: From 50 units · Lead time: Typically 7–12 working days after artwork approval

## Why bottles are harder than they look

A bottle label has to do something a flat carton label does not: conform to a curve without lifting at the edges, and often survive condensation, ice buckets or a bathroom shelf.

Two failures dominate. The first is **edge lift** — a stiff material on a small-diameter bottle springs away from the surface at the leading edge. The second is **wrinkling** on application, when a long wrap is applied by hand without a jig.

Both are solved by specification, not by printing better.

## Matching material to container

| Container | Sensible choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Glass beverage bottle, chilled | PP or PET with a chill-grade adhesive | Paper cockles with condensation |
| Cosmetic bottle, bathroom | PP or PET | Water and oil resistance |
| PET bottle, squeeze | PP | Flexible, follows the squeeze |
| Oil or vinegar | PP with oil-resistant adhesive | Paper stains and lifts |
| Short-run craft product | Coated paper | Cheaper, acceptable if stored dry |

For small-diameter bottles — under about 40 mm — a thinner face stock conforms better. If the design wraps more than halfway around, ask for a curved-surface adhesive and expect the proof to include a wrap test.

## Sizing a wrap label

Measure the container circumference at the point where the label sits, then decide the coverage: a front panel, a two-thirds wrap, or a full wrap with a small gap at the seam.

Add a few millimetres of overlap only if the design allows it; on a clear bottle an overlap shows as a darker band. For tapered bottles, the label must be curved or the top edge will wrinkle — supply a dieline and we will check it against the container taper.

## White ink and clear stock

On clear or frosted bottles, colours print translucent unless a white layer sits beneath them. A "no-label look" is really a white-ink design decision, and it is quoted as an extra pass. On dark glass, a white flood behind the entire design is often the only way to keep text legible.

## Printing and finishing

Digital printing for short runs, flexo for volume. Lamination protects against condensation and scuffing from handling and packing; matte finishes hide water spots better than gloss on a bathroom shelf.

## Quantity and cost

Bottle labels are priced on printed area, material, finishing and quantity. Long wraps use more material per label than a front panel, so a full-wrap design at 50 units is a different price from a 40 mm circle at 50 units.

## Ordering

Send the container (or a photo), the label size and wrap type, the storage condition (fridge, bathroom, ambient) and the quantity. If you can send one empty bottle to the factory, adhesion and fit can be tested before the run.
