# Labels for candle and fragrance brands

> Heat-resistant adhesives, jar wraps and small warning text that stays legible on warm glass — what candle and fragrance brands need from labels.

## Heat changes the adhesive

A candle jar is not a room-temperature surface. The glass warms as the candle burns, and a standard permanent adhesive can soften, slide or lift at 40–50 °C. The label may look perfect in the box and fail on the third burn.

The fix is specification: a heat-resistant adhesive and a face stock that does not shrink when warm. Tell us it is a candle and we will quote accordingly — it is the single most common omission in candle label briefs.

## Jar shapes and wrap sizing

Candles come in straight-sided tumblers, tapered jars and tins. Each needs a different approach:

| Jar | Label approach |
|---|---|
| Straight tumbler | Rectangular wrap, straightforward |
| Tapered jar | Curved dieline, or a shorter label that stops before the taper |
| Tin | Small label; adhesion on painted metal needs testing |
| Frosted glass | Works well with clear film + white ink |

A rectangular label on a tapered jar wrinkles at the top edge. A curved dieline costs a little more and removes the problem entirely.

## Warning text

Candle labels carry mandatory safety text: burn instructions, warning symbols, and often a batch or lot code. Two rules from experience:

1. **Do not shrink the warning to fit the design.** If the text does not fit at a legible size, the label is too small — increase the label, not the resolution.
2. **Leave a clear area for the batch code**, whether printed inline or overstamped later.

The wording and symbol requirements differ by market (US, UK, EU). The brand owns that compliance; we print what is approved and will flag when the layout leaves no room.

## Materials and finish

Paper with a heat-resistant adhesive works for many candles and gives a classic, tactile look. PP handles humidity and spilled wax better. Clear film on frosted glass gives a premium no-label effect but needs white ink behind the design.

Matte lamination is the usual choice: it hides fingerprints and wax smudges better than gloss.

## What to send for a quote

The jar dimensions, whether it is tapered, the wax type and burn temperature if known, the warning text length, quantity and destination. Minimum 50 units.
