Small batch sticker printing
Fifty stickers is a real order, not a sample request. It covers a launch, a market stall, a subscriber insert or a first packaging run — without a box of 5,000 in the spare room.
What small batch is for
| Launching a brand | Logo stickers and packaging seals before volume is known |
|---|---|
| Testing a design | See how a shape and finish look on the actual packaging |
| Events and markets | Giveaways and price tags for a single weekend |
| Ecommerce inserts | Sticker sheets in the first hundred orders |
Choosing the format at low volume
Two formats suit a first run. Individual die cut stickers are the simplest: one design, one shape, peel and apply. Sticker sheets put several designs on one backing sheet — better when a customer should receive a set, or when the stickers are too small to handle individually.
At 50 units, a simple shape avoids a custom die and keeps the price down. Complex contours need a cutting path and, above a few hundred units, a steel rule die — which is a one-off cost that rarely makes sense at this quantity.
Material at small volume
White vinyl is the default: water-resistant, durable and available in the thickness that feeds through most printers. Clear vinyl gives the no-label look but needs white ink behind the design, which adds a pass. Paper is cheaper and fine for indoor, short-life use.
Lamination is the durability decision. On 50 stickers it is a small absolute cost and a large difference in how the sticker survives a bag, a water bottle or a shop window.
What changes when you scale
Price per sticker falls sharply between 50 and 500 because setup is amortised; after that it declines more slowly. The other change is format: above a few thousand, rolls and steel-rule dies become the sensible production method, and the artwork needs to be set up for them.
Reordering is easier than ordering: the approved proof and specifications carry over, so the second run skips the artwork review and moves straight to production.
